Hiko is the 13th successor of the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu and he taught Kenshin it. He's usually very serious and loves to drink saki. He was a little disappointed that Kenshin didn't bring it on one of his visits.
Hiko saved Kenshin's live when he was a little kid. He renamed him to Kenshin Himura (original name is Shinta, I think) and trained him as a warrior until he left and became Hitokori Battousai.
Currently living as artisan, Hiko likes to live alone, but that doesn't mean his swordsmanship has detoriated. At the battle in Aoiya, during Shishio's final attack, Hiko appeared and fought the giant Fuji and saved the people.
I think he's proud of Kenshin but he won't admit it.
